Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (MWSC) has held a stakeholders consultative meeting in Chililabombwe to discuss the current water supply situation and explore both short- and long-term solutions to improve service delivery in the district.
The meeting brought together key District leaders, including District Commissioner Mr. Kelly Jibinga, Mayor Mr. Lucky Sichone, Town Clerk Ms. Shilla Songolo, District Administrative Officer Mr. Chipawa Chipawa, MWSC Managing Director Eng. Ndilakulampa Hamalambo, and Ward Councillors.
The consultative session focused on ongoing water rationing measures resulting from the temporary reduction in water production due to rehabilitation works, leak repairs, and planned network upgrades aimed at enhancing supply reliability across Chililabombwe.
Addressing the meeting, MWSC Managing Director Eng. Ndilakulampa Hamalambo assured stakeholders that the ongoing water rationing is a temporary and necessary measure to allow rehabilitation works to progress safely and efficiently.

He explained that one of the major installations, the sedimentation tanks, which receives raw water from underground dewatering activities, was currently under rehabilitation, resulting in lower production capacity. Despite this, the Company has implemented short-term interventions to stabilize supply to the affected areas while the works continue.
Eng. Hamalambo further highlighted that the Zambia Water and Sanitation Project (ZWSP) the major investment in the District’s water infrastructure was expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026, providing a long-term solution to water supply challenges in Chililabombwe.
The meeting also agreed to explore opportunities to leverage the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Ward Development Fund (WDF) to support supplementary water supply projects and community-level infrastructure upgrades.

MWSC reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement, emphasizing that open engagement with stakeholders remains key to building sustainable and equitable access to water services.
